Step 1: install fridge
Step 2: cold beer
Step 3: wait, I'm not done?

Yeah, paying someone else was not an option. We just don't have it. I grew up working construction for my dad's company, so I'm well aware of why construction is so expensive.

I actually had enough slack on the waterline, that I never had to unhook the fridge.

One of the best parts of my kitchen remodel was getting a new fridge and putting the old one in the garage. Having two fridges is boss.

The skills show. I'm handy ( hard wood floors, tile, decks and what not) but building my own custom cabinets is above me. At least in any kind of decent time frame.

Congratulations on building a refrigerator! Not many people could do that.

The funny thing is, while I learned carpentry from my dad, I learned wood working mostly from watching The New Yankee W orkshop. From there it was a lot of trial and error. Believe me, I’m still learning. There’s a mistake or two in those cabinets.
And I am not looking forward to making the doors. I have most of the parts cut to size, but the millwork I still need to do haunts my dreams a bit.

That fridge is actually the only thing in the entire kitchen that isn’t getting replaced. When we bought the house eight years ago, the fridge it came with was a tiny 25 year old POS. So, we dropped some coin on a nice one back then.
That said, having two fridges is indeed boss. We have a second one in the basement that we bought super cheap from some friends when they moved.
